Hey Grand Lakers! I hope you guys are enjoying this fabulous weather!
High 80’s to low 90’s for another week, we got a little rain in between and lots of sunshine.
Now this is how summer needs to be…all the time!
Unfortunately, I have not been able to get out there and enjoy due to my surgery last week.
Yep, a new hip on the right side (I guess you could say a new right rear quarter panel).
I’m looking out there while writing this and the Hardy Hibiscus has big red blooms on it, but it’s way out there!!
I bet I can talk the Physical Therapist into doing my “walking” exercise outside.
So with gorgeous weather, it is a good time to get caught up on weeding if you haven’t done so.
It is also time to stop harvesting asparagus.
Make sure the stems are cut off to ground level, just so they can be covered with a little soil. Then let the fronds grow the rest of the summer.
The potatoes and onions likely ready and since they can store quite a while, go ahead and dig them all up.
Be gentle in digging up the potatoes so you don’t cut into them and don’t wash them.
Just kind of clean them off with a dry paper towel and store them between newspapers in a cool dry space.
Likewise with onions, let them dry in a shaded area for a day or so, then rub the dirt and they will store for several weeks.
Well, I heard the Saturday Market had lots of vegetables last week.
Tomatoes, squash, green beans, onions, radishes, etc. Of course, the grass-fed beef, chicken, and eggs are available. Likewise baked goods, tamales, salsas, herbs, and jelly.
I cannot make cabbage rolls again this week, sorry, but hopefully, I can get them going for next week.
Come and see us from 9:00 to noon!
Get out there and soak up the sunshine and always…Enjoy the Earth! Diana
