Where did our warm weather go? The rain has been great but winds out of the north? And highs in the low 60’s?
The tomato plants are not liking that, at all!
Hopefully we will warm back up by Memorial Day weekend. After all, we have this big beautiful lake and people want to get out on the water, and soak up some warm sunshine!
Well I had to resort to building a fence around the garden at home.
Yep, Mr. Bunny and friend were doing too much damage so Jim and I built a fence to keep them out. So far it is working quite well.
The sugar snap peas are getting bigger, the beets have leaves again, and no more broken asparagus
I haven’t even harvested any asparagus from this garden because there wasn’t much left to harvest.
Interestingly, I saw Bunny out in the yard the other morning, and he was munching on grass, so he isn’t starving.
I picked my first jalapeño peppers this week and made a batch of salsa.
I dug up a couple of potatoes and some onions for a pot roast Sunday and we had fish tacos Monday night with plenty of cilantro out of the garden.
The chives, dill, mint, oregano, sage…all the herbs are growing like crazy.
Take advantage of it because some will wane when the weather gets hot.
So if you don’t have a vegetable garden, The Saturday Market has locally grown vegetables available.
Last week there was lettuce, spinach, onions, potatoes, sugar snap peas, garlic, herbs, broccoli, strawberries, eggs, beef and pork.
We also had sterling silver jewelry, hand made wood furniture, pottery and other fun stuff.
Come and see us from 9:00 to 1:00! Enjoy the Earth!
