Well, last week my column ended with “get out the jeans, long sleeve shirts and boots…” then it turned hot again!

This is the craziest weather ever! I am getting a flip flop tan line again, and it is mid-October!

I’m beginning to sound like a broken record, but it was a gorgeous weekend!!! And we used every moment of it.

We catered a beautiful wedding for 250 Saturday evening in the huge barn at Rafter A Ranch with seating spilling outside the barn.

Yep, the weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding and son, Donnie, and Becky came up from OKC to help.

So Sunday we had a salsa making marathon with the plethora of jalapeños and tomatoes we all have.

Tex Mex hot relish

After making salsa, we made a bunch of jars of a Tex Mex hot relish of carrots, onion and jalapenos.

They left Sunday afternoon with a month’s supply of Tex Mex.

Then Monday provided another sunny, warm day, but with a nice breeze out of the north. A perfect day to be outside.

We had a lot of catering equipment to be put back into storage, so we cleaned out the storage unit first, a chore that is a pain, but it was worth it.

After everything was put away, and since it was so gorgeous out, I cleaned and vacuumed both vans and then we headed home.

It didn’t stop there. Since it was so gorgeous out (broken record), I decided to clean the porch and the plants out there, and maybe squeegee a couple of windows. I couldn’t stop myself! I ended up doing every window facing the lake!

Jim got on a roll too, and did a major repair to our cedar porch swing.

I don’t know where we got the energy, it had to be the beautiful weather…but by 4-ish we were pooped, ready for a shower and a cocktail!

Well, sorry guys, there wasn’t a lot of gardening done this week, but I’m not sure when it would have fit in.

But we sure spent the majority of our weekend outside.

Don’t forget this is a great time of year to come see us at the restaurant as well!

With no rain in sight, you need to be watering, so get out there and soak up the sunshine, and always…

Enjoy the Earth! Diana
